Hey everyone!
I hope that everyone has had an amazing start to their summer! I thought I would give an update about our trip to Honduras. Many of you know that my parents are moving there for five years, and so my start to summer has been all about packing! We were able to whittle everything my parents own down into six suitcases (plus a few boxes in storage:).
I am writing this post from Florida, because we stopped here at my aunt and uncle's house on our way to the Hon. Yesterday was full of goodbyes, and my parents actually handled themselves a lot better than I did! I write all of this because God has given me the opportunity to watch what it means to give up everything to follow Him. My parents have accepted God's call to leave everything, and I hope that is as encouraging to you as it is to me. Also, it is never too late... my parents are both 55 and have a granddaughter!
We leave for Honduras in the morning, and I will be there for three weeks. During this time we hope to prepare Casa Esperanza (House of Hope) for its new residents. These will be young adults who have finished high school and are attending college and/or are working, and my parents will serve as the parents for this house. The goal is to help equip these young people for their transition our of the orphanage where they have lived. I am so excited to help prepare the home for the kids who are going to share my parents--I guess that makes them my brothers and sisters!
For prayer requests, please pray for safe travel and rest. It has been non-stop preparing to leave Louisville, and both my parents and I are exhausted. Also, please pray that God will be preparing the hearts of the kids who will live in Casa Esperanza, that they would accept my parents' authority and guidance. Finally, please pray that my parents will be able to learn Spanish quickly and fluently--this is a big stressor for them right now!
Again, I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer so far. Thank you so much for your prayers, and I pray that wherever you are that you would be working for the gospel of Christ, and that you would be growing in Him.
Love,
Emily Brewster

welcome to our blog!
welcome to the new bcm blog! we want this to be a place students can share what they are learning and how they are growing and serving.
for this summer, we want this blog to be a way for students to share about their summer missions experiences. we have alot of students serving in so many different ways, and alot of students who will be returning home to work or go to school. we want this blog to be a way to connect the two. i hope it will be an encouragement to those of you who are at home and need accountability. i also hope it will be an encouragement to those of you serving on summer missions this summer who need to know they have support back home. most importantly, i am praying that this site will spur us all towards a deeper commitment and love for Christ.
so be checking back to see what the summer holds!
love- sabrina
